Choosing your Summer Latex Wardrobe

Plan ahead of time and consider what latex clothing you will wear, particularly on a hot day. Dare to go bare throughout the summer months by wearing lightweight, minimal latex clothing mixed with regular clothing.

Choose thinner latex clothing for better ventilation and comfort in the summer heat. Lighter latex promotes air circulation, reducing the risk of overheating. This allows your skin to breathe. Sleeveless tops, open-back dresses, or mini skirts can help you stay cool by exposing more flesh to the air. And for the boys remember that less is more during the summer. Shorts and swimwear are a fantastic choice, especially by the pool!

Luckily there are plenty of choices available for the latex aficionado. Here are some of our favourites:

Stay Hydrated!

Wearing latex may make you perspire more than usual, which may cause you to lose fluids. Make sure you stay hydrated at all times by drinking lots of water. You need replace the water your body loses via perspiration if you want to stay healthy. Just make sure the latex clothing you choose has a zip for those pee breaks!

Alcohol use should be moderated as excessive consumption dehydrates the body. Be sure to replenish your water intake on a regular basis if you intend to have some alcohol.

Another great tip is ensure you keep externally hydrated. Using a small wet face cloth, run it over your neck, behind the ears, around the wrists and over shoulders. The water residue will keep your skin moist and the liquid will evaporate on your skin, keeping you cooler. For extra coolness, grab a glass of ice to make the water really cold!

Ensure you hydrate regularly to replace lost fluids

Protect your Latex

When heading outside whilst wearing latex in summer, ensure that you stay in the shade wherever possible and avoid being outside at the hottest times of the day (normally around midday to early afternoon).

It’s important to remember that direct sunlight can often cause discolouration of latex and that prolonged periods of exposure to heat will make the material brittle, fade and deform. Whilst it is advisable to not expose your outfit to UV rays for too long without a break. Latex fashion care company, beGLOSS, produce a unique high shine gloss with added UV protection so you can not only be sure that your latex outfit shine in the summer, but that it is also protected.
